  3. Since the rig has not been as common here in the U.S. as elsewhere in the world, the fine points of getting the best out of the sail are perhaps not as well understood as with more common rigs, such as the gaff rig, gunter, or various varieties of jib-headed, Bermudian, Marconi, pointy mainsail sloops which are so ubiquitous.
  4. A Boat Too Far. In we bought a 46' catamaran in Thailand as a wreck. We removed the cabin, bridgedeck, main crossbeam and all the bulkheads then completely redisigned and rebuilt her in Phuket over the course of 5 years. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

  7. May 09,  · I should have clarified my statement. I used that sail for perhaps outings and then it seriously started to degrade. Seven layers of sewn corner patches were not enough reinforcement to prevent the tack, clew and peak grommets from pulling out of the sail. The sail is also stretched way beyond the original planform.
  8. The worst was the left side of my driveway, which dropped five feet straight down into the Zwirkos' backyard. If you attempted a fadeaway jump shot on the left and you faded too far away, you'd suddenly sail out of sight and plummet down, as if you were falling off a cliff, and land with a clunk in the Zwirkos' trash cans.
  9. Social distancing: boats spread out (except for the harmless dinghy). People spread out. Plenty of room to breathe and roam. Quick lunch/snorkel/swim stop, first day of our March Virgin Islands (BVI) trip. We’re all put out by this as well as freaked out. I’m a silver-lining kind of guy. I deal with the harsh reality of some things.
